Dearest Movement Community,

I am certainly too late to be throwing out ‘Happy New Year,’ but I truly wish for the best for all of us. It can feel like a gargantuan gamble to accept statements like this year is going to be great, especially if you’ve just crawled out of the last one, but our practice encourages us to live in the present—so perhaps we can start with happy new day and happy new hour! After all, how do you measure, measure a year?

When hoping for good news, I like to say fingers, toes, eagle pose to express that everything you can cross is as tightly crossed as possible. I have been using this expression excessively over the past few weeks as an unexpected health setback has kept me at bay a little longer than anticipated. I’m starting to cautiously and optimistically inch my way back into life-participation with fingers, toes, AND eagle pose for no more whack-a-mole with my vitality.

Thank you to the incredible guest teachers who stepped in with ease, expertise and grace during my absence. You have kept this community inviting, inspiring, healing and a fun place to practice. With your energy and presence, our class numbers have never been consistently higher, and the newsletter readership has surpassed 500 people.

I am slowly-gently-quietly returning to teaching and will be leading Soulful Saturday tomorrow at 9:30am and Movement + Meditation on Monday at 7:30pm.

I would love to see you.

If you have been away from your mat for sometime, I especially encourage you to join us. We can begin again together. Our shapes might look different, our modifications more complex, but the familiarity and comfort of the movement is waiting to reanimate. There is access to practice for all of us; with a bit of creativity and openness, we will find the way.

Love,
Sara

Each one of these bracelets was made by and/or given to me by friends I love very much. Each one has its own story. Yes, I'm a Swiftie, and adore that friendship bracelets are back for people of all ages because of Taylor. Thank you for asking!
