There should be a word for that urge to send flowers to everyone you know. Since I have yet to stumble upon my millions or a local field of wildflowers in November, please accept this letter in lieu of your bouquet. Here are some of the things I would say to you on the card:
You're doing great.
Keep going.
I am so grateful for you.
You make me laugh so much.
Never change.
I am so proud of you.
The world is a better place because you are in it.
I am so sorry.
Everything is going to be ok.
Thank you for all that you do.
I love you.

In practice, we set our intentions, and once we begin to move, I like to imagine those intentions vibrating within the space. This is where we can begin to locate sensation, aerate it, and allow it to expand beyond the place it's living—beyond the barrier of our skin. We have a chance to feel lighter, less pain, more joy, less worry and less stress, if only for the moment. In this way, our yoga practice is like a bouquet of flowers—lots of colours, textures, layers, beauty and even thorns, if only for the moment.
We hold our postures and breathe, close our eyes, become curious about every little thing we feel and make micro-adjustments to accommodate. Our practice becomes more than just movement—it becomes a prayer, a therapy, a remedy, a deep listening, an anchor. In a familiar posture like Trikonasana (Triangle Pose) is the opportunity to discover something different every single time. As our relationship with the pose deepens, we crave a return to see what else it may reveal.
I have been offering a longer stay in savasana or meditation lately. More time for rest, breathing, meditation or prayer, giving us a chance to drop into exactly what we may need.
Let’s explore all of this together. It’s ok if you’re a beginner or returning or scared; come just as you are.
There are a few ways to connect with me in the next few weeks. I am leading in-person classes every Saturday morning and Monday night at the beautiful Elbow Park Community Centre. My On-Demand release centres around strength, using light weights to add intensity and challenge for our mind and body.
Love,
Sara
