The Magic of Rest: An Imbolc Invitation to Slow Down

Jenn Gardner | JAN 19

New Year, New You!  Your Best Year Yet! Start 2026 off with a BOOM!

Make your resolutions today to be successful tomorrow!

Ugh, I’m already exhausted, and it’s only mid-January.

Friends, let’s remember that the New Year doesn’t truly start on January 1st. We are naturally — as Mother Nature intended — meant to be deep in hibernation.

January is meant for rest.

In modern times, we often forget how important and integral rest is to our healing and well-being. We are so conditioned to hustle, to keep up, and to push through that we rarely give ourselves time to sit with our natural cycles and honor them.

Rest is our Goddess-given right, and magic lies here. It does not need to be earned; it is something to reclaim.

Rest gives us the chance not only to recharge, but to listen — to listen to our truth, to our intuition, and to what our bodies are telling us.

Rest as a Sacred Pause

There are seven sacred forms of rest we all need: Physical, Mental, Social, Emotional, Sensory, Creative, and Spiritual. When these needs go unmet, burnout follows.

Taking a deeper look at these forms of rest can support us in laying claim to what we want to call in for the year ahead—not in a forced manner, but with intention and ease. When we take a moment to rest, we can listen deeply to what we desire for our next cycle.

Imbolc and the Wisdom of Slow Beginnings

Imbolc (pronounced IM-bulk or IM-olk), celebrated at the beginning of February, marks a sacred threshold in the Celtic calendar: not quite winter, not yet spring. Rooted in ancient Gaelic tradition, Imbolc was a time that honoured the returning light and the quiet renewal stirring within the land.

The earth is still resting, but beneath the surface, something is gently awakening.

Imbolc reminds us that true beginnings are slow.

This is not the season for hustle, forcing change, or demanding clarity. This is a time to listen. To warm the soil. To tend what is quietly forming within us before it is ready to emerge.

The intentions we set now are not meant to be rushed or perfected; they are meant to be nurtured.

The Magic of Rest Retreat

The magic that lies in deep, nourishing rest is one of letting go—of honouring where you have been and bringing gentle awareness to what you are becoming. We need to lean into rest in order to show up in this crazy world.

Our true spirit knows the way of ease, and when we lean into quiet contemplation, we can finally listen to what our true heart desires.

Join Sara Villamil and me on January 25, 1 - 5 pm, for a soul-nourishing afternoon retreat as we explore The Magic of Rest.

Together, we will:

  • Unlearn the belief that rest must be earned

  • Explore how rest can actually support clarity, creativity, and aligned productivity

  • Honour the energy of Imbolc and slow intention-setting

  • Create space to simply be — without expectation or urgency

  • Practice Yin Yoga & Yoga Nidra (Yogic Sleep)

This retreat is an invitation to pause, to breathe, and to reconnect with yourself in a way that feels grounding, sacred, and deeply restorative.

If your body, heart, or spirit has been asking for rest — this is your sign.

We hope to see you there.
